NEW DELHI: Amid growing concern over safety of online video conferencing services, the National Commission for Women on Monday received a message from a student of a reputed institution in Ahmedabad in Gujarat, stating that during an online class on Zoom online app, an unknown man hacked the group and started masturbating. The NCW has written to the Gujarat Police and sought strict legal action against the culprit.
The Commission has taken cognizance of this incident and said that the cyber crime committed by the miscreants involved in such an act is deeply disturbing. NCW has said that it is very concerned about the online safety practices, especially the security of women on the internet. The Commission has written to director general of police, Gujarat to probe the matter immediately and said that strict legal action must be taken against the culprit.
The Union ministry of home affairs has already warned the public about the Zoom video conferencing app as not being safe for usage. On Saturday, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights too issued an advisory to education departments of states asking them to ensure safety measures by schools holding online classes to prevent any kind of online abuse.
