Kankaria zoo, lakefront to be closed, says AMC
If your summer holiday plan is to go for a safari, it’s time to reschedule the plan. The state government on Monday ordered closure of national parks, sanctuaries and reserves in view of coronavirus threat.
A circular issued by Chief Wildlife Warden Shyamal Tikadar said the state’s national parks, sanctuaries, and conservation reserves will remain closed till March 29.
It said the sites under lockdown include Sakkarbaug Zoological Park in Junagadh, Devaliya Safari Park and Ambardi Safari Park, which attract large crowds eager to sight the Asiatic lion. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation also announced that Kankaria zoo and lake front would remain closed for public during the same time. The newly built Sardar Patel Zoological Park at Kevadiya, close to the Statue of Unity, will also remain closed.
